Rock Hill
Rock Hill is an historic community and is the largest city in York County, South Carolina, but the fifth largest city in the state. Downtown renovations have preserved architectural detail in creating the Center for the Arts, the Telephone Museum, and City Hall complex. Art galleries are featured at Winthrop University, at City Hall, and at Piedmont Medical Center. In the Charlotte metropolitan area, behind Charlotte, Concord and Gastonia, Rock Hill is recognized as the fourth largest city with a population over 66,000 people. Rock Hill was originally a textile manufacturing city but the evolving economy had other plans. However, Rock Hill is growing and is home to many businesses and institutions, such as Winthrop University. Growth included the development of more business parks and the greening of Cherry Road. Rock Hill is located off of I-77 and is approximately 25 miles south of Charlotte.
